ISLAMABAD: The interim Prime Minister (PM) Justice (r) Nasir-ul-Mulk on Saturday ordered the relevant authorities to submit a report on Thursday night’s attack on at least 12 girls’ schools in Chilas, Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
Caretaker PM strongly condemned the attack and stated that those who were involved in this act would be held accountable.
On Thursday night, unknown assailants had destroyed three government schools using explosives and set another nine on fire.
Most of these schools were for girls only. No casualties were reported in the attacks that appeared to have been orchestrated by extremists opposed to women’s education.
A press release issued by the local administration stated that the assailants had fled the scene by the team security and law enforcement forces got there.
